“It’s been fantastic to work with EF-group to get Scarlett Buckling into
classrooms where it can really make a difference.”
The book has won praise from former Education Secretary Lord
Kenneth Baker, who also chaired the panel of judges for the 2001
Booker Prize.
Former Education Secretary Lord Kenneth Baker stated:
“I loved meeting the dementia detectives Scarlett and Bournemouth.
It is important children learn about dementia, and this sensitive story
will help children and adults alike.”
This initiative reflects the kind of meaningful partnerships EF-group
fosters - going beyond its core procurement services to create social

EF-group, a leading procurement and menu management software
provider for the care, senior living, and education sectors, is working
with leading not-for-profit care provider Anchor to bring copies of a
new children’s novel on the theme of dementia to schools.
Scarlett Buckling and the Case of the Missing Pictures introduces young
readers to the difficult emotions and practicalities of knowing someone
with dementia through an exciting mystery adventure.
The book, by Anchor Director of Communications and Marketing Mario
Ambrosi, follows Scarlett, who has a passion for detective stories.
When her beloved Gran begins to lose her memory and suddenly goes
missing, Scarlett finds herself in the middle of a real-life mystery - one
she’s determined to solve.
Thoughtfully written, to introduce dementia in an accessible and
age-appropriate way, the book aims to build empathy and
understanding among younger audiences. It was informed by the lived
experience of people living with dementia as well as family members
and dementia professionals, including at Dementia UK, the dementia
specialist nursing charity. It recently featured at the Bradford Literature
Festival.
To mark World Alzheimer’s Month this September, EF-group has
partnered with Anchor to gift copies of the book to schools within its
