Farmers for a Week
Immersive five-day residential stays on one of our stunning
heritage farms in Devon, Gloucestershire and Pembrokeshire.
Farms for City Children supports children and young people
by providing a life-changing week on one of our farms.
Wearing their wellies and working on our farms, children and
young people, many from underserved communities, learn
about food, farming, and the natural world. They reap the
physical and mental health benefits of being in the
countryside and leave feeling inspired and engaged;
full of possibility for their future.
“I’ve been on residentials for almost a
decade now and this one was by far the
best. Every activity was tailored to the
children, every member of staff was
welcoming, warm and worked incredibly
hard to make the week purposeful,
educational - but most of all, fun.
Why a week in wellies?
With 1 in 6 young people
suffering from mental health
issues, technology dominating
their day-to-day lives, and less
than 50% of children and
young people reaching their
daily recommended activity
levels, a week on our farms is a
vital antidote to the pressures
of modern life.
“In terms of the benefits for the children,
there are almost too many to list. They
developed their confidence, resilience and
communication skills, all while learning so
much about farming.”
Jon, Lead Teacher
Mayflower, Tower Hamlets.
In the past year, over 3,000 children
and young people visited one of our
three farms in Devon, Gloucestershire
and Pembrokeshire.
